chunky pages

I'm on a chunky page run. I love making these little works of art. They all measure 4x4 and are on Fabriano Artistico Hot Press Watercolor Paper. I then layered them on chipboard & covered the backs with cute pattern paper. They are all done with Golden fluid acrylics and prisma colored pencils. A couple have butterfly rub ons by paper house & a paper butterfly by recollections. They are awesome framed but they are also perfect for the chunky book collector. The left sides are embellishment free so they can be easily bound with your other pages. I just posted them on in my etsy shop along with 5 new aceo's. I off to create a little video for youtube :)

ice resin

Just wanted to share with you my latest little project. I bought some ice resin & charms from Stacy's Scrap Shack & using reproductions of my painting I made the most awesome necklace! I'm so happy with it I think I'm going to make a bunch & put them in my etsy shop. I was in a painting mood this evening but not for a big project just a little easy one. I picked one of my fav subjects, Frida & pulled out a new little 4x4 canvas. I just bought a bunch of new sizes from Stacy's Scrap Shack & I'm lovin the mini ones!

I've just started a fan page for my artwork on facebook. I will be posting all updates on there as well as here. dr pepper, chips, pms & netflix

oooohhhh what a lazy vegetable I've been. I have the worst PMS ever so my best friends have been my constant supply of dr. pepper & a bag of chips. Sad, I know.... So, I signed up for netflix & had my son set it all up. I've done nothing but watch movies for two days. Now my head hurts & I feel totally blahhhhh...I'm just not a couch potato. I love movies & watch them often but my idea of watching movies is to have it on while I do a million other things. I mostly listen to it & glance over constantly. I must not do this another day. I'm grouchy & my paints & markers are calling to me.......fear not my sweet copics. I have not forgotten you. I will play with you all tomorrow & we will make beautiful things together. goodnight my friends

Here are photos of my two newest paintings. They both measure 16x20 on stretched canvas done in acrylics. I hope you like them! The Frida painting is my favorite & she is hanging in my livingroom right now.
My 4 year old daughter said the funniest thing last night about it.

So, the mustache forehead lady is my favorite painting I've done in awhile. I think I will keep this one :)

a painting passion

There are many many MANY things I love to do. Sewing, drawing, knitting, the list goes on & on. But there is one thing that feeds my soul.... Painting! As corny as is may sound...when I paint everything else in the universe fades & for that moment that my brush hits the canvas I am completely peaceful & one with my art. It isn't something I do. It is what I am. I am an artist. I may not be the best. I may not sell for tons of money. I may never be recognized in this life. But it is one thing I will not deny myself or hide away & create in a closet. I draw & paint for me & the second I said it out loud & believed it with my entire soul. I felt totally set free & it now feeds my soul. It is my oxygen. Being creative is a gift from God & I will live the rest of my life honoring that gift by letting it pour out of me. You all have an artist inside of you. I never want another person to say to me. "I don't even want to try because I just wouldn't be as good as you." You cannot draw or paint if never give yourself permission to screw up & make some really bad art. You cannot ever get better if you never allow yourself to start. So I want to encourage every person that follows my blog to say it out loud "I am an artist" & go make some crappy art that leads to art that you are really proud of. I love you all & thank you all for your comments & support even with the crappy art :) -Megan

Here are a few projects I just finished & posted to ebay this weekend. I created a couple mini scrapbooks, card & tag using a cool "fashionista" rubber stamp I just bought. I used the new "street Lace" pattern paper by die cuts with a view. I decorated the books with the stamp images and added a handmade beaded charm that is attached with a Tim Holtz memo pin. I just recieved the memo pins in the mail a couple days ago. I bought a package on ebay & now I really wish I had ordered a at least a couple of them. They are definatly one of my new FAVORITE products! My stamp pad is also VERY happy & juicy! I finally got a reinker bottle from Stacy's Scrap Shack last week and I realize now how dead my stamp pad really was! Along with my memo pins I recieved a couple stamp sets. I bought a set of Tim Holtz grungy backgrounds & steampunk collection by seven gypsies. I haven't used them yet but as soon as I do I will post my creations.

So this project is another reason I haven't been able to post to my blog & youtube videos lately. I've been up to my elbows in paint!!!
This mural measures 5x6 feet on canvas. I painted the main portion of the canvas & made a quilted border in a funky black & white skellie fabric & bound the edges with an aqua & green paisley. It has a hanging loop in the back that we are going to run a funky rod through to hang it on the wall. This was a special project for my awesome friend Stacy's store. So if you are ever on the Oregon Coast stop in at Stacy's Scrap Shack in Lincoln City & check it out in person!!! the store is having it's grand reopening on Feb. 5th & an awesome crop at the casino on March 5th. I will be there scrapbooking my heart out for the day. I can't wait to get away & play at the coast :)

new computer :)

aaaaawwwwwwwwwwwww................finally........a new computer & internet again!!!
I have been without it for 21/2 months & I've been going crazy! We bought a new laptop for Christmas & just got internet hooked up the other day. Oh how I've missed it!
Christmas was so much fun with the kids. We had a fun Christmas party at my sister's house on Christmas Eve. My parents, brother & sisters & their spouses & kids were all there. We had a yummy dinner together & the kids had a blast exchanging gifts with cousins. We had all the yummy treats & desserts that you MUST have during the holidays & wrapping paper shredded all over the floor. Just like it should be :)
We had Christmas day at home with the kids. They woke us up early, of course, and we did gifts, had pancakes & sausage for breakfast & hubbie & I passed out for a much needed nap! Spend the new year at my sister's house for projects & crafting. It was a lot of fun. We don't get to spend as much time together these days so it was a nice break & had a blast laughing until I cried. Just like when we were little kids. I'm sure when we are 80 years old we will still be cracking up together!
So I've made a bunch of new cards over the holidays & I've just about got the video put together. It's a slideshow of all the cards I finished. I hope to have it posted by tomorrow eve.

I'm back!!!

I feel so bad that I've been neglecting my blog but life has just been crazy!!!
I can't keep up with it all.
Hope everyone had a great Halloween :) we had good time. Dressed the kids up & went to the downtown trick or treating. Tons of stores along the main street in town decorate & trick or treat. Then we went to a big neighborhood close to us & walked house to house trick or treating. Both of my son't had a friend come with us so we had lots of kids in tow. Very fun night. Too much sugar & lots of smiles!

I've made tons of cards over the last couple weeks both for ebay & trading. I also participated in the Halloween-a-thon on illustratedatcs.com We had a marathon of card making & trading for three days all on the Halloween theme. That was the first one I have done so it was a lot of fun. I can't wait for the next one. It's going to be like Christmas at my mailbox next week when all of my returns start showing up! I can't wait!

Last week I taught a mini scrapbook make & take at Life's A Scrapbook in Sherwood Oregon. It was for their customer appreciation open house event they do each year. There were 9 vendors doing different projects & the food & treats were amazing! I had a great time doing it but I crashed when I got home. I had a full week before then putting all of my kits together.

I also entered a handmade greeting card in Life's A Scrapbook card contest. I really hope I win. I want that gift certificate & go shopping! LOL Next time I'm in the store I will take a photo of it & post for you to see. I think it turned out really cute if I do say so myself :)

There are too many cards to show you here so I put together a video of what I made for Halloween. It's now posted on youtube so check it out!

Right now I'm busy making new cards & creating Holiday greeting cards for ebay. I have the first small batch finished & I'm hoping to get them posted tomorrow eve.

Thinking about hosting a winter theme swap. What do you guys think? My last two swaps fell through because everyone was so busy during back to school. Is it a bad time because of the Christmas Holiday? I'm open to suggestions so please comment & let me know what you think!
